Library

I finally took the time to get my San Francisco public library card today. I went to the main library for the first time. Fancy! The children's library is expansive and I know Yoshi will love it when she sees it (she's had her own library card for well over a year now). I spent a lot of time walking up and down the aisles of books and periodicals, perusing. I forgot how fun the library is! I just hope I remember to return my books.

Summer fun in the city

This past Sunday, one of the runners in Tom's marathon training group hosted a barbecue at her place. Little did I know it would be at One Rincon Hill, which everyone in SF knows as the crazy tall condo high rise adjacent to the Bay Bridge. The building itself reminds me of a huge air purifier.

But it's swanky. Valet parking for the tenants, a really beautiful swimming pool, spa, and chic reflecting pool with a patio and fireplace that look like they're floating on top. Tom and Yoshi were well prepared and took a dip in the pool and lounged in the hot tub, all with cool views of the bay bridge and the city.

Peas please!

In spring Tom organized a planter box build with our building neighbors for our backyard, each unit getting a box to create their own veggie garden. We've all enjoyed the progress made so far, watching the plants grow.

The tomatoes are flourishing to the point of being out of control but it'll be awesome when they ripen. They are doing so much better than our attempts in Portland.

Yoshi enjoys pulling out the carrots, taking them upstairs into the house, rinsing them off in the sink, and taking that first bite. "So sweet!" she says.

I'm really loving the peas our garden produces. There's nothing like eating fresh peas straight from the pod. Do they even sell fresh peas like that in stores (other than snow peas or snap peas) or are they always frozen?

Tom + Me

Another photo from the weekend Yoshi was gone. Taken on the roof by my neighbors' friend Kurt.
