- lightweight (fingering?)
- machine washable
- all/mostly natural fibers
- not too lacy, maybe confined to decorative edging? (baby toes caught in holes = not fun)
- something that can be worn as a fashionable wrap when not covering a nursing boob
- something that also can be used as a small baby blanket (maybe for the stroller or car)
I recently knit a nursing shawl for Drea in record time and it went over really well at the baby shower. It fit all my requirements mentioned above, although the triangle is not your traditional blanket shape so maybe it didn't quite get all the bullet points.
I may knit that pattern again, this time for A. I can't decide. I knit my niece Ellie a baby blanket right before she was born, which is my favorite finished piece to date, and I'm willing to knit that pattern again for A's baby. But maybe A doesn't need another blanket since she probably has some from when her daughter was a baby. The shawl is more useful because it can be used for both a clothing accessory and a blanket.
Ugh, I can't decide!
