The sun is shining through

Despite this crazy storm we're in, the sun has emerged, if only for a little bit. And that makes me happy, all that warm sunshiny goodness. And despite not getting hired as a product photographer, I'm still upbeat. Here's what they said:
Thanks again for letting us use your video in the store, very much appreciated.

Overall your photos were beautifully composed, well-lit and edited to perfection. However your lifestyle photos aren't quite the look we're going for. So we're going to continue on with our search for a new photographer.

That being said, we'd love to use your instax album studio shots on the site this coming Tuesday...

So that means none of the other applicants were hired, right? I sent the job posting link to one of my photographer friends and encouraged him to apply 'cause he's good at photographing/directing people. He may have better luck.

I'm really happy at all the nice things they said about my photographs. And I was thrilled they wanted to use more studio shots. But then this afternoon I get the bad news that they no longer plan to use my shots in their upcoming product launch. Bummer! I admit that I was a bit disheartened, even moreso than not being hired.

But overall, I'm really happy that I applied. I learned a bit more about product photography, assignments, deliverables, and all that good stuff. I learned that my makeshift tabletop studio works just fine to help produce a nice clean shot. And maybe I'll find some motivation to take more photos. And even more motivation to actually share them with you all!

Hi Denise,
I love your perspective on this acquaintance with product work. You're so darned sensible, kind and understanding. Did I say creative? I often look to your photos for ideas and inspiration.

I think they messed up over at PJJ, but that's just me.

Your fan,
Lech

Thanks Lech! You should apply too! not that you don't have enough on your plate with that newborn baby and all. :)
