Thoughts on a Saturday morning

It's Saturday morning, Yoshi poured herself some cereal and is geeking out with a calculator at the kitchen table. Tom's getting ready for his run with his Half Full Running Club that he and Greg started. (If you're in the Bay Area, you should check it out!). And I'm plopped on the couch selectively choosing which awful images of the Japan earthquake devastation to view. I think because I don't regularly watch tv, news images of harrowing events are especially painful to see. It's all too much for my eyes and brain to take. But I'm grateful that we have social media for people to easily share real time updates on what's going on, to let their loved ones know that they're okay.

On more uplifting news, I finished my product test shots for the job interview. I spent 9 hours editing the photos Thursday night and finally made my way to bed around 2:30am. I know that I could have done a better, more creative job with the shots if I had more time and energy, but that's the way it goes with photo assignments and life in general. Ya gotta make do and be happy with what ya got (or do something else about it!). So I can't really complain. Catie was incredible with her impeccable styling and modeling. She came to the photo location at Duboce Park with a suitcase filled with handbags, accessories, and outfits. Here's a fun one.

And another one showcasing her Chloe handbag:

This shot was photographed in A's home. Her books are organized by color, which makes me so happy every time I look at it, and made a great background for this mini polaroid photo album in gray for that pop of color.

As for the studio shots, I'm pleased with how they came out, especially considering my "studio" consists of the kitchen table, white poster board and light from the window.

And I'll let you in on a little secret. The company is going to use at least one of my submissions on their website. Squeee!!!! This doesn't mean I got the job as product photographer necessarily, but I did get to pick something from their store as a barter, which I'm totally happy with. More details to come!

And on even more shallow news, I received my order from Sephora. I ran out of my only favorite perfume, so I got some more. And I also bought some makeup primer. I never used primer before, and I must say that it's my new BFF for my face. My mineral foundation goes on even smoother than before. How have I managed so long without it?!

Yoshi is asking me to play with her. I told her I'd play with her "in 10 minutes." That was about 30 minutes again. Poor girl. Good thing she's too lazy to figure out how much time has passed. I better make good on my promise.
