I'm a walker

I used to be a runner, but it's now been 9 months since my last run. I've decided that I'm now a walker.

Unfortunately, with Yoshi now on summer vacation, I no longer find myself easily doing the 2-4 mile walks a day getting to and from her school, and my body is feeling sluggish. This week she's in a golf camp across town, so yesterday I decided to walk there to pick her up rather than take Muni. It was a nice way to see a bunch of neighborhoods: Mission > Hayes Valley > Western Addition > Japantown > Pacific Heights > Cow Hollow > Marina.

Whew! I even survived the crazy steep hills.

I picked Yoshi up, we stopped for a fro-yo treat, then got on a crowded bus to head back home. When we got a little past Fillmore and Eddy, there was a car that had parallel parked and its driver opened the door without first checking the approaching traffic. Ka-blam! Our bus slammed into the open car's door and everyone on board lurched forward as the bus slammed on the brakes. Luckily no one was hurt. But we all had to get off the bus.

Yoshi and I wanted to see if we could beat the time it would have taken had we waited for the next bus to arrive, so we walked the rest of the way home: Western Addition > Alamo Square > Lower Haight > Duboce Triangle > Mission.

Yoshi is an excellent walker, being a resident of a walking-friendly neighborhood + our not owning a car.
We made it to the bus stop by our house about a minute before the next bus arrived. Our feet beat the wheels on the bus! High five!

You are an excellent walker. I'd walk all around town with you and your Yoshimini too. It's a pretty city, it's nice to enjoy it on your feet. I am a huge fan of "beat the bus".

ps: glad to see you posting again!!
