Underground sample sale
Last night we went to Dave's house, more specifically the basement, where he hosted the [probably illegal] Nike and Mizuno sample sale. It was much hipper than what I remember last year. Instead of clothes in boxes there were actual racks and hangers, and even a make shift dressing room in the basement. On the food table there was an assortment of nuts and cheeses, cookies, crackers, strawberry shortcake, pita bread and hummus. We drank wine, beer, and soda. Radiohead played early on but as things got grooving and more people showed up, the music became more upbeat. It was all the makings of a great party. Plus, we got to shop at discount prices! I supported Nike and its sweatshop industry by purchasing a mini-duffel bag in a red-orange color, two long-sleeve running shirts, a lavender running fleece hoodie, and a pink running tank top all for sixty bucks. Tom, on the other hand, supported the Japanese company Mizuno and scored gloves, two shirts, a pair of shorts, and pants for $40. We chatted it up with some friends and Yoshimi showed off her sign language skills to Cassie and her mother in-law. A good time was had by all.
